YOGA FOR Wellbeing – The essence of practice: asana, pranayama, and meditation
Of all factors that we can control, our mind, with its numerous thoughts and feelings, is perhaps the most important determinant of the course of our life—of success or failure, of contentment or discontent, of our responses and our relationships. In a pleasant and balanced mind lie all the positive values and fulfilling life-experiences we wish to nurture. We all know well that there is no greater blessing than such a steady and peaceful mind. Forming much of the Yoga foundation of ancient Eastern wisdom, the Yogasutras offers a profound perspective on the functioning of our mind and gives us methods to increase balance in our lives. Using the powerful tools therein, we can reduce unwanted, negative emotions and turn the nature of our mind towards calm, focus and positivity. This program will include asanas, pranayama, sound/chanting and meditation to retrain and redirect the path of our body, breath, senses and mind.

The Role of Pranayama in the Path of Yoga
The importance of pranayama in the path of yoga cannot be overstated. It plays a vital role as it influences both bodily health and mental well-being. In this program, we will see why pranayama is considered one of the most powerful aids to meditation in classical yoga.

Essence of Meditation – The Role of Sound . Mantra and Mind in the Path of Yoga
There is a wealth of detailed material in ancient texts on Vedic phonetics and yoga explaining the use of sound for mental and physical wellness. Sound is a powerful tool to bring tranquility to the mind. This program will explain how you can use sound in various ways as an aid to meditation, a part of meditation or as meditation by itself—the use of sound to quiet the mind.
The essence of meditation with a mantra is to move towards ones own self. Therefore, in the Yogasutras, Patanjali uses the term svadhyaya in kriya yoga. What is the psychology underlying them? Is mantra a secret?Are there mantras for mental wellness? Why are mantra and svadhyayam given so much importance? These and other related questions will be addressed in this program.
SUNDAY October 13th
9:30am to 1:00pm
YOGA FOR WOMEN
Women undergo physiological changes from their teens to their later years. These changes do impact their mind in several ways in different life situations. The practice of yoga can greatly help in overcoming many of the issues that women face in their lives. This program (exclusively for women) will focus on how the psychological and physiological aspects can be dealt with proper practice of yoga.

DESIGN YOUR OWN PERSONAL PRACTICE
To get the greatest benefit from yoga, you need to tailor it to your individual needs, and enjoy the powerful effects of personal practice. In this workshop, you’ll learn the essential elements to include in your personal practice. You will also learn how to recognize and create the best care for your own body and mind with a full complement of yoga tools, and will answer questions, such as what can you do on days when you don’t have time for a full practice.

The legacy and the teachings of Sri. T. Krishnamacharya
The life and teachings of Krishnamacharya will be presented along with videos, audios and on screen presentations. This will be followed by a question and answer session.

How is the Course Delivered?
The course will be taught by both AG Mohan and Sri T. Krishnamacharya. There will be both lecture and workshop style classes.

About Your Teachers
A.G. Mohan was a personal student of Sri T. Krishnamacharya for 18 years, from 1971 to 1989. In 1976, he co–founded the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram in Chennai and was its Honorary Secretary until 1989. Indra Mohan has been teaching and practising yoga for over 30 years. She is one of the few people to have received a post–graduate diploma in Yoga from Sri T. Krishnamacharya. They reside in Chennai where they continue to offer yoga programs. Magic Mountain Apartments are located at Great Hall Drive Nobby Beach at the Gold Coast in Queensland Australia.
